Hi Kuton,
Yes, 7 more in full support of the SB Class hehehe
He want s to have 10 of them in Balas. My BNW SB included. *
*Blue-Now-White
The two flimsy ones you saw during the Kitikiti launching are part of that project. They have been completed (reinforced) and flotation chambers added since.
Let me find those photos.
Sails: Toshi had three lanteen sail sets from the aborted "Snarkoid" fleet project and decided to use them on the new SB's.
smaller sail area than the lug though.......but larger versions can be made easily.
They will all have centerboards....same location where the leeboard is per plan.
I think you should try the lanteen-rigged SB and give your experienced assessment.
I want to find out for myself
P.S.
If anything really good is coming out of the SB project, it is the OJT on boatbuilding/carpentry his crew is getting. Two of them, Joey and Melvyn, are showing good potential. I've recommended a car painter friend to train one or two of them in quality painting. He will be commissioned to give a hands on workshop soon at Toshi's.

honestly, I don't know which is the proper (if there's one)
term hehehe....
the same sail has been called both I guess...though "lateen"
is more commonly used. |

The mast should be stepped forward, or the lateen sail brought forward. As it is now, I think that the boat will have excessive weather helm.
But let me try out the boat first. |
